About the Competition
Chosen Ground is the annual street dance competition hosted and organized by the UP Streetdance Club. Teams from high schools, universities, and independent crews battle it out on the University Theater stage, judged live on artistry and technique.
CG 20 runs four divisions: High School, College, Junior Varsity, and Open, with a total prize pool of ₱500,000.
How it works
Submit your roster and a pre-screening dance video online.
Submissions are reviewed and admitted teams are notified.
Teams meet, draw performance order, and complete requirements.
Teams take the stage and are judged live on artistry and technique.
Judging
Chosen Ground is judged by renowned coaches from the streetdance community, scoring out of 100 points.
The final score drops the highest and lowest judge scores and averages the rest.
Who's behind it
Chosen Ground is organized and produced by the UP Streetdance Club, from registration and judging to the production running the show itself.
The UP Streetdance Club is the official street dance varsity of the University of the Philippines, representing, inspiring, and reinforcing honor and excellence through dance.
Formed by a group of students looking for a venue for creative expression, now one of the most prominent dance organizations in the country.
Giving back
Part of the proceeds from Chosen Ground goes to Make A Difference, the UP Streetdance Club's socio-civic initiative.
Its centerpiece is a long-running partnership with the 2KK Tulong sa Kapwa Kapatid Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting and educating children in need. Through this partnership, club members run dance workshops, volunteer programs, and fundraisers, including dedicated dance concerts, that fund educational scholarships and nurture talent among children.
